Default Question Regarding a Recent Pattern book purchase

Ok I went to a Woodcarving Expo in Dayton Ohio( my first one spent to much money but I got some good knives out of it ). I got a pattern book from Laura Dunkle ( I dont know if it the same woman who does the Whimsical birds book or not. But anyways the one I bought was a small little thing called Gerome the Gnome. She had some made up and for sale and I wish now that I had taken photos because for the life of me I made one and I dont know if I made it correctly because I dont know if I had to remove more wood to make things more rounded or what not.. Just wondering if anyone had ever heard of what Im refering to or if hopefully maybe shes a member on here because I cant seem to find anything online about it.

Des804,
I looked at the Gerome site and I cannot find a pattern book. What is the title of the book you bought?
I see a book on how to plant a garden. I would like a pattern, especially for the worm.

Des, just my thoughts here, but, I wouldn't be too concerned about whether you made it "correctly". YOU made it therefor, it's yours! That's one of the joys of carving. Using a pattern is fine, but are you trying to "copy" someone else, or learn to carve? Try making another one and make some changes and see how it works out.
Again just my $.02, but this was also the advice that I got from a very well known carver, and friend.
Happy Carving!

Well some of you might know the husband because I did a search and got a lot of results on his Knives because I bought my knives from him John Dunkle. I bought a Skew, a Detailing ( which I tried using for the whole thing but took a long time so I'll have to save up for a bigger knife of his for bigger work ) and a Chip Carving which I want to try out here soon as well... the Detailing one is awesome. I couldnt afford the special strop he had so Im wondering how to strop the bent skew knife.
