Default Re: Question on Quality

In the many years (over 10) we have the replaced micro v-gouges by Ramelson about three times. It happens with every tool manufacturer ... you occasionally get a bad tool.

Ramelson for us is a great durable, nice quality starter set that will last many years and they are extremely affordable. With such a set you can get started then learn which tools you will constantly be using. As your hobby grows you can start adding new tools, one at a time, of higher quality.

My one 'bad tool', about six or seven years ago, was a detail knife from flex-cut. The tip snapped with the first cut.

When I contacted the company I was told I had put too much pressure on the tool tip - used it like a crow bar.

NOT!

They did take it back and reground the tip but they did not regrind the long straight line of the cutting edge. So the knife ended up with a long straight edge then angled quickly to a point. The cutting tip came off the long profile like a lazy L.

Need I say I threw it away.

Susan
