Default Purchasing a folding knife

Hello All, I've been reading this forum off and on for a couple months and it seems there are a lot of nice people interested in my new-found hobby of woodcarving. I have been researching knives for a while now, and have decided I would really like to get a folding knife for whittling carving to start out. I have about a $100 budget from some gift money I recently received and would like some advice on which knife to spend the money on. I am interested in the following:

Little Shaver's modified Kershaw Double Cross
Oar Carver (with detail blade and reg. blade).
Case Seahorse Whittler
...suggestions?

Have a look at Woodcraft.com I think I saw that Oar carving knife in the clearance section.

both the kershaw and the oar carver are fine knives i have them both, i think though for starting out i would go with oar carver since it has both a small and large blade, the kershaw is good too but the blades are a little bigger and may need some modifying but the oar if it is good and sharp should do a good job for you.

I use the Oar Carver (single blade), but had it tuned up and sharpened by Rick at Little Shavers. I do not know what i'd do without it. I am considering buying another one and having Rick tune and sharpen it the same as the old one I have. Kinda like a spare. I believe this knife cost $64.

Good luck and good carving.

Smoky Mtn. also has a folding knife. I didn't see it on the website but it's in the catalog. It has different style blades. The Woodcraft shop has two Boker folding knives.

Here's one more oppinion.

Case Seahorse, Definitely not. I like them (I should, I have over 100 of them), but not for whittling/carving.

Oar Carver, Maybe. I find it a bit on the uncomfortable side, but otherwise a good knife.

Rick's Kershaw - The best of the three mentioned, especially if you get him to make his mods to it.

What do I use? Kind of split time between a Henckles whittler and a Boker whittler. Both have slight modifications. I also have an A.C. Warren that was given to me, but it is WAY out of the price range you mentioned.

So, you see, knives are pretty personal items. What one person likes another doesn't. Wives and Girl friends, you see.

Thanks for all of the advice and recommendations, I'm leaning toward the kershaw, and will most likely call and order it next week. Thanks for all the help!
