Unhappy Please help Whittling egg...

Hello,

I am as new can be with Whittling and need help I bought the book Old Time Whittling By Keith Bandich and started whittling a egg using bass wood I now have it down to a cylinder shape and cant seem to understand his technique on the top and bottom the drawings are hard for me to understand can anyone help me out here??? Please

Forget the drawings then. Go to the kitchen and get an egg from the fridge and set it on a folded towel in front of you. Not everyone can relate to a drawing, but with a model of the subject in front of you, it may help.

If you have your cylinder shape now, good, just begin shaping the top and bottom, little by little, until the basic shape comes out. Hold the egg and the cylinder up in front of your face and compare the differences. Carving an egg is an excellent exercise for new carvers, it is not as simple as someone may think, unless they have carved one themselves. Practice and patience, my friend. Lots of both.
