| | Phil Bishop I was looking on the web for ideas for carving and found "Phil Bishop" and his wife's site. I've seen his work before but never looked close. on his site you can enlarge his carvings to a huge size . great detail . does anyone know if he has any books out. he does an very good job on hands and eyes and mouths. no fuzzies that i could see.

| | Re: Phil Bishop JOJ,
No books that I am aware of other than the ones he has participated in with the other members of the CCA (Caricature Carvers of America). Phil & Viki are quite popular and teach classes all year (as you've probably seen from the website). They are coming to the buffalo area this summer (August) and so I decided to call for a spot, needless to say the class is already full and I am on the waiting list.
If you haven't checked out the CCA's website yet give it a shot, their newest member Gary Falin also uses some of their style as well... http://www.cca-carvers.org/index.html

| | Re: Phil Bishop I haven't seen any books yet, but he teaches many classes all over the country. His class schedule is on his website; I will be at the week-long Missoula, Montana seminar with him in July.
I have two of his carvings and they are very cleanly done. |

| | Re: Phil Bishop Hi guys,
I've known Phil and Vickie for about 7 years--before he made CCA. They are both outstanding carvers and painters of carvings. And you are right, they both do such a clean job on their carving process--no fuzzies at all. The details they put in their caricatures make them so outstanding. Those skinny bowed legs are a good part of his signature--on his carvings--not him! They do have a web site and a number of carving roughouts with excellent 4-way view photos to go with each one. Everyone ought to take at least one of their seminars and you get two for one--both Phil and Vickie for the price of one--that means you get double attention, for a reasonable price.

| | Re: Phil Bishop Hmmm, isn't that a "thumbsdown" icon on this thread, I don't think that's what was meant, leastwise I've never heard anything about the Bishop's that deserved that icon, maybe the original poster might want to "edit" his message?
Maybe I'm outa line, but just a thought.
OG
Hmm.. I see someone has edited it...good on ya.
