Default Pattern tutorial?

Not having any luck finding aquatic critter patterns such as seal, whale, dolphin I'm now considering attempting to trying my hand at developing my own patterns. Can anyone point me to a pattern tutorial that may help a rookie in learning the basics?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dave and DickB,
Thanks for thanking the time to provide the links for me to check out. Did find two patterns on Stiller's site that caught my interest and that's his Dolphin White-sided and Bottlenose patterns.

Ran across a book today that may make a good reference work for me to have in hand as I start out and that's 'Whales and Dolphins: and Other Marine Mammals of the World' by Hadoram Shirihai and Brett Jarrett. My local library does carry it so have it on order now. If it's as good as it sounds I'll then purchase a copy from my book shop.

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time gents.
