I would advise againts the super glue unless ya know what your doing, I seen it done a few times and it got really really infected under the glue,. They had to go to the ER and get it cut back open was really nasty. SO if ya do glue it make sure ya pour it full of peroxide first.

I'm with Carl, Walgreens does sell a type of super glue for wounds though. I tried it but if its on a joint or finger that is used quite a bit it does not work (based on my past experienceSad). If you want it to heal fast go to the doctor and get it stitched, specially its deep. If not just throw some neosporin on it with a bandaid.

I hate to say it I been carving 14 years and probably cut myself once a year.
Like Bob said I have signed at least 14 of my carvings with my DNA.
Try to be careful (famous last words)

Yeah When I worked in a machine shop super glue is all we ever used it seals a cut and stays on better than a band Aid

Ever heard of butterfly band aids, if ya buy the industrial ones they work even better then stiches cheaper to. My granpa gets em for me no idea where, but he also gets me loads of 3M sand paper like 3 feet by 40 feet, lol it comes in big rolls for some kind of machines he would weld on for different companies and refineries.

Screw the glue and do it right the first time, would really suck to glue it and have it get infected.

LOL just make sure you clean it first before you use the super glue. But hey don't take my advice,I'm the guy who drove 19 hours the day after having rotator cuff surgery and took my own stitches out a week later sitting in the living room of a friends house. I dont always do the brightest things a person can do but I sure make things interesting LOL.

I haven't ever used a glove and yes i have had some nice slices, twice in between my left thumb and pointer finger. The first one i got stiched, the second one I super glued. But I did quickly learn a few things.

Don't carve with dull blades
Don't be in a hurry
Project your blade path carefully.

For me, I can't stand having anything on my hands. I can also see it leading to sloppy techniques..."If i slip I'm ok because I have this glove" and rushed work. Not against them, just saying...

I would wonder about a carver with no scars; like skinny chefs "JOKE"

Super glue is great, but just like the emergency room, scrub that thing with alchohol or iodine swabs before moving sealing, and make sure all 'meat' is inside. I wash and rinse, swab out with alchohol, come to, get up off the bathroom floor, pinch the wound and brush a thin layer on top and hold. I don't use a lot of super glue just enough to hold, then cover with a bandage/bandaid. Used it a few times like this no trouble (Not just carving).

Wearing a glove is no big deal....wear it, you'll get use to it and after awhile feel naked without it! As for super glue....I wash it off, peroxide it...super glue it...no problem. my opinion only.. do as you please.

Ha lol right on, I can't stand the gloves but encourage them for beginers, Glad to see I am not the only one. Every one gets cut eventually it is just part of carving the things that matter are how bad when and will ya know what to do when it happens, had a friend from school who wanted to learn about carving but instead of coming to me he decided to try it himself in his basement, long story short cut his hand all up ran upstairs to his mom showed her and he0 fainted, he can't stand the sight of blood.
