Default Oak Wine Barrel Bottle Stopper

This is Carving number four. The Oak Wine barrel was a much easier carving to do. Is their such a thing for a beginner?

I did not have any corks so decided to get some from a home Brew store nearrby. After purchasing a pack of fifty I tried one out for size in an empty wine bottle. Buggar! Wouldn't fit would it. I looked at the cork, no taper, What th#. So I rang the store and said this cork is cylindrical, it has no taper.

He told me that was because it has to go into the new wine with a press to get a seal. How was I to know that, I only drink the stuff. But, thanks to you guys here when my call for help went out the anser was really simple. All I had to do was put the cork with the dowel attached in a drill press and with a bit of sandpaper put the taper on, it was about 30 seconds work and i was back in business.

Pete

Nice stopper, Pete. By the way, those corks make good knife blade protectors, too.

Speaking of the homebrew store, I really do need to make some more beer . . .
