Default New Tools

Hello Everyone, well my cheap-o set of beginners tools just isn't working out and I am about a third of the way through my first project (a wood spirit using bass wood) so Thursday I am going to order the beginners tool set from Little Shavers if any of you old hands out their can see any just cause why I shouldn't order this set please speak now or forever hold your piece your feedback would be greatly welcomed.

While you are ordering your beginner's set you might also want ask Rick about sending your "cheap-o" tools to him for work. As long as they are decent quality steel he can regrind the bevels and sharpen them so you have two sets of tools instead of just one. Beginners who buy inexpensive tools (e-bay, Hobby Lobby, etc.) can get discouraged because the tools they buy aren't sharp enough, are too thick, or have incorrect bevels for basswood.

I bought a cheap set of carving tools from Hobby Lobby and it took me hours of stone and file work to get them to the right shape and sharpness but they are now my favorites for roughing out carvings.
