Default New Guy on the Block

Hello everyone,
A quick story to introduce myself.
Yesterday I went to a craft show in Massachusetts and got the carving bug BIG TIME.
I saw the work of a man by the name of Frank Adamo his web page is: http://www.capecarver.com/
You have to look at the bird carvings... I was blown away... I wanted to purchase a Wren he had but it was sold. So my story is this... I was so impressed by Fred's work that I have not stopped thinking about the wren or Hawk he made. Just the fact that a persons work has moved me so much now in my 51 years I started so search wood carver web pages. I found a thread on this forum that told me it's not to late even at 51 to learn wood carving. http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/f33/observing-carver-13412/ Eddie said: "you're never too old to learn something new"
I have been a wood worker (Hobby only) all my life, I also do stained glass... making projects like tables, wall units, and many home improvements. So I am familiar with tools. Fred's work has moved me and sparked this need to start carving... I know I will never do what Fred can do BUT I will have fun trying.
Why am I here? To learn how to start... the wood, the knife...
Thanks for listening,
Steve
