Another tool to have in the box, old 35mm film container does not take up much room. Thanks for the tip.

Well I sat next to Ed today when I carved and tho I spent some time carving without my glove on, (didn't want to get doughnut crumbs on it) I failed to cut myself so the demonstration Ed was looking for never came about.

I take my pepper with me in the little packets you get from fast food places. Stop for lunch get a burger and take a couple pepper packs but only use one. They add up fast.

I asked a doctor friend about this a few years ago and he just nodded his head. Pretty much any powdered substance will work. I've used corn starch as well as black pepper. I've heard of others using powdered cayenne pepper (!) and lots of other things.

Just had the opportunity to try pepper, after jabbing myself while sharpening a v-tool (small jab). Dang! works great.

Any powdered substance? Ah so. That's why dragging that wound across the remnants from sanding works.

Thanks for the tip.

Great tip Paul. I guess I will make a trip to Wendy's to get a couple packets of pepper to keep in my tool box, maybe some yummy fries too!

That is a very tasty tip!!! It makes sense for me, I put pepper on and in every thing else. Thanks for sharing that tip.

Cool tip! Will have to do a search to see what element in black pepper causes this reaction and doesn't burn. I too would rather sneeze than bleed for sure.

As per EHow: http://www.ehow.com/how_2090313_trea...ck-pepper.html

With those little packets - just make sure it's the pepper & not the salt. I believe you'll have a slightly different reaction...

Bob: "Any powdered substance" will coagulate and stop the bleeding from a small cut. Whether it's wise to use "just anything" is another matter entirely. Might not be a good idea to rub sawdust into a wound.
