Ok, I have posted a picture of my carving area and was asked if my shop is as clean. So here is my shop. It is really our two car garage, everything is on wheelsso that if storms are coming my wife can fit her car in here. If not storms, then the car stays out ![]() The first picture if my 12 foot long bench for all my fishing gear and my kayak underneath. ( I do have my fishing tackle in one of the tall grey cabinets I built) The second picture is the wood storage area just left of my fishing bench. And it is somewhat a catch all area as well. I store my air compressor in a mobile cabinet I made. It is on the right of that picture. The third picture is my table saw and my router table all in one. I made this cabinet that holds my tabelsaw and is a router table, it has a vacuum system in the body. It also has 6 deep drawers the oposite side of the tablesaw to store power tools in. And a large cabinet door to store all my large cans of paint. The fourth picture is the wall with my scrollsaw, mitersaw, drill press on cabinets so they can be pulled out and used whenever i need. And of course all the lawn equipment is in the corner until we can get a shed and get it out of my shop LOL. The last picture is my carving bench and the cabinets that are built around it (don't ask me to open the cabinets, that is where all the mess is ![]() This was recently cleaned up, although I tend to keep it pretty clean overall, since you never know when a storm will push through and my wife will want to park in there. |

Very Nice. Great combination of stuff, too; fishing and wood working. ;-)

Looks like the only potential improvement would be additional lighting at your carving station (when you're inside). other than that - great work space.

Thanks, You can't see it but under the cabinets above my carving bench is a 4 foot flourescent light, It helps. I also installed 4 double 4 foot flourescent ceiling lights, you could land a plane in there when they are all on LOL

Nice shop area! My shop is the kitchen island or the picnic table out in the yard. One of these days I'll have a dedicated shop, maybe!

I like what you did with the cabinet for the table saw and router table. I did not see any dust collection apparatus. Do you have a set up for that? Check out my website below in the gallery section you can see my shop in the two car garage also.

No dust collection system yet, it is on the list for 2012 though, The table saw and router table has dust hoses and ports that my shop vac hooks up to. I hook up my shop vac to all my larger tools. It helps some, but still a lot of sweeping and hand vacuuming the fine dust. I like your shop Bob, you make good use of all your space. How do you like the dust collector you have? Do you find it is big enough. You make some fine furniture as well, I am interested in clock making, but never took the steps yet to learn. |

I like the 10 inch band saw I bought from Sears, it is a craftsman. It only has a cutting height of 4 3/4 inches and you can't add a riser to it. But I knew that going into it and really like it, I can resaw hardwood down to a 1/16 of an inch and straight. I just didn't have the floor space for the Grizzly 14" bandsaw I want.
