| | My next WIP.... This is my next project I'm working on... By the way I didn't do like my mentor advises "draw it out, then carve", I just grab a piece of wood, and let my knife go to work, what I get is what I get.. Tells in the proportion thought. |

| | Re: My next WIP.... Same with me too. I just go at it and my proportions suffer. I am a horrible artist so it doesn't work out for me that well. If you aren't going to use a pattern try finding a reference piece. It can be a pattern that you have coppied and changed or a copy of a photo that you go over in pen or pencil. I have changed to design of several other carved pieces like this. Or just circle what you like and look at it when you carve. My carving are still very basic myself, but I have found this to be very helpful! And don't worry, you will get answers from people with tons of experience----unlike me lol! |

| | Re: My next WIP.... I do the same also. Most of the carvings
I have done so far have been from roughouts. I have been reading about using clay to make a model first. That is what I'm going to try when I get a few more carvings under my belt. <grin>

Ya doing great Charger. But don't hessitate using the pencil. Nothing says you have to stay on the line. Lines help in getting your porportions correct. Well, that is what the Big boys tell me! |
