Smile My First SHELF ELF

Hey Guys/Gals

This is my FIRST TRY @ a SHELF ELF.
I know I got LOTS 2 learn but I'm willing to learn and take suggestions from you pros out there in the carving world. !

I like him! Great layout. Beard and mustache look great.

Schnozz looks pretty red, unless that's shelf sitter elf has spent most his time on the liquor cabinet shelf.

Kinda hard to see from the picture but I've seen folks spread the red 'tint' on the top of the nose 'bulb' and include the top of the cheeks. Very diluted red so it looks like a very light sunburn. You'd be surprised on how little it takes to have enough.

The note above is just a suggestion as you progress on this great journey in wood carving.

I think this first attempt is awesome.

Great little Shelf Elf Schooner! Looks like he's enjoying life just sitting there and watching everything thats going on...cute for sure! If this is your 'first' carving, you're a natural! Keep carving them and we'll keep enjoying them! Safe carving to you...

Wow, not bad at all for a first carving. My only suggestion would be to crop the photo a little tighter, so we can get a better look at him.
