Default My first cowboy - 25 years ago

Beginners get a little discouraged/intimidated when they see the great carvings posted here. We all started at the bottom. Here is proof. This is my first cowboy, carved from a Harold Enlow pattern 25 years ago.The poor fellow doesn't have all the fingers on one hand, hat doesn't line up with the head, eyes just painted on, paint too thick, etc,. And worst of all, his expression and posture suggest a severe case of constipation. Enjoy. but don;t laugh too hard. Bigboy

Seems like there was a thread along those lines recently, but I couldn't find it. Did find an older one.

Thanks to BigBoy for showing an older carving. 25 years - man that seems like a long time ago...

Chuck, one of the best programs we ever had at our local club was "the Worst First Carving Contest" We all laughed until we cried. Rossette ribbons and special awards. Some of the participants besides me included: Claude Bolton, Dave Dunham, Charlie Winstead, Jack Price,Gary Batte, Ronnie Reed, and Chris Hammack and some other pretty good carvers. You had to have a pretty thick skin during that Show and Tell. It was great fun. Bigboy

Steve, that's a pretty good carving for a first. 25 years and he's still constipated. Poor guy.
