Thanks Thor.I used Aspen the exact tree shown in my other topic here about "aspen or poplar".I used mostly an axe to get general roughout and then got some chisels from work to get some detail and used a flapdisk on handgrinder to sand it down.Yeah it turned out pretty good for my first try.I didn't know i could even carve at all until the company that i work with forced us into a strike and we were out for a month on picket line in freezing cold.One day i picket up and axe and started chopping on a junk of wood and the decided to carve the heads of management and stick them on sticks in front of headquarters.It made quite a scene .I used a clear coat water based but i wont do that again,a member here used some other method which i will try next.Here is a pic of the very first ones done almost exclusive with axe.

I like both the otem and the scream wowthat scream kind of sends shivers down the spine those neighbors may be too scared to complain
