| | Re: My Brothers first Chainsaw carving There must be sap running in those veins as he did an excellent job on his first carving. Would like to try a chain saw sometime...but I like carving with all my digits.

| | Re: My Brothers first Chainsaw carving Yep Bob , I am working on him,
I really have to say , when you see his finished pice your going to be surprised I give him a few hints , gave him my chisels and what he finished with is really quite good.
It was a dieased maple so the colors are really something, so he want to brush sand it and then oil finish it and I will post his completed piece , but it is much more advanced than anything I did as a beginner.
He told me Colin is his hero and if colin had one he wants one .
Colin you have another monster on your hands !

that is awsome I just love the carving. I only wish my first carving was anything as good as that. I am so glad he likes the Red Max it is a great little saw and weighs nothing. Let him know from me that he has done really well. I will continue to see his progress now he just has to join the forum.

| | Re: My Brothers first Chainsaw carving Colin I am working on him , I am sure he will join soon. He asked me what he could cut next and I gave him his first commision... start them young .
We have 3 acres about half of which is under split rail fence . I told him start at the back and work up the sides He can carve every post. I figure by the time he gets to the front he should be pretty good.
And yes he love the saw, his only complaint was " I have to use chisels! Damn! "
