My wife say it looks just like a toadstool she use to see in the woods. Are you a chainsaw carver also?

Hey Kevin,
I keep seeing chainsaw carvings and wonder, but just the sound alone deters me, much less the power!
Hopefully your glove comes in soon so you can enjoy the addictive world of carving.

Pretty good looking mushroom! For not ever using a chainsaw you did real good. All I've ever used one for is firewood.

I would proudly dispay your mushroom on my covered patio ... it's far too wonderful a carving to ever put out into the weather ... I would want that one to last forever exactly as it is.

Great job!

Great mushroom Kevin. Your son should be very proud of that one.

I started carving without the glove. That lasted about two weeks. I can show you the scars. Not to mention how bad the blood stains the piece you are working on. Wait for the glove and enjoy. I have only been carving for just over three months. Lots of satisfaction with each piece you finish.

Have fun and be sure to keep us posted when you start finishing your first few pieces.

Great mushroom, I have been doing bears with the chainsaw, small ones. I use a Makita 12" electic chainsaw with a dime tip bar. No gas fumes to worry about, no pulling to get it started. I have had mine 2 years now and no problems. You do only get to do smaller items but that suits me find, this summer I'll try the mushrooms.
