Default More Quick & Easy Projects

Here's two more quick and easy little projects.
The little fish are a result of seeing an article in Field and Stream on ice spear fishing, using carved fish decoys/lures. These are 2 to 3 inches long, and very easy to carve and more fun to paint.

This little eagle starts out as a 3/4 x 3/4 x 1 1/2 inch piece of basswood, and as you can see is very quick and easy.

I really like doing the small projects. You can accomplish most/all of them with just a pocket knife which suits me fine. I started with small ones. Over the years I progressed to larger and larger projects, and several years ago regressed back to the smaller ones again. I just enjoy them more for some reason. Glad to see somebody else enjoys them also.

They look good. I like small projects because they are fast, but I have a hard time holding on to them.

Bill, if I had to hold onto the little carvings while I carved them, I'd have fewer fingers. Here's how I do it. This little carved "animal" will be 1 1/2inches tall when cut off the "handle". I'll carve something on each end of a 4 inch piece, while holding on to the "handle" part. Then I'll turn the piece and carve something on the other end. Always have a "Handle".

Gosh these are great Tom! I love the "speckled" paint job on the fish and the eagle is another real winner. Thanks so much for sharing these with us!
