Default more "newbie" pics

Hi all,

first off thanks for all the help you folks have given me so far.

I wanted show off a couple of pics. I'm a very green carver (Me not the wood).
I think I posted some of the before, but I live in central MN and first picked up a knife wanting to carve spearing decoys. It was quite a thrill when I Dropped the decoy into the spear hole and it acually worked! (No fish yet but I'm not giving up hope.)

Anyway I've also been trying caricures, but I can't get the face down (other posts on this, and I'm still practicing...in the mean time though I think I found a "work around"

Anyway H-A-P-P-Y year everyone!

I supose It would help if you were able to see the Decoys huh?

(And yet I think I should be allowed to handle sharp objects!)

Let me try this again.

Jayson

Great decoys. I like the Hillbillies too. Keep up the good work, and I hope the decoys eventually work for you.

Enjoyed the decoys, especially because I care some fish. I see you say Central Minnesota so I must ask where in Minnesota. I live in Parkers Prairie in West Central Minnesota. We must not be to far apart. Happy New Year

Jaysonmol-great looking decoys and like your caricatures.as for carving faces if you were to take 2 rulers and place them from ear to tip of your nose you would find it makes a triangle.also study your own face or someone elses.but when your ready to post question on faces i'm sure you'll get lots of answers

Thanks all for kind words. it's amazing how much I've learned in a short time. And at the same time keep thinking how this or that can be improved. I was never a "wood worker" before but was always intreeged by it.

DiamondWillow...we're not too far at all, I'm from Cold Spring.

Jayson.

I adore your lil Amos and his dog.. they are so cute!! Now that orange northern.. that will get some getting used to. *wink*

Gotta pop back in here and let us know if those decoys work and your having a big ol' fish fry!
