Default Miniature ice skate blades

Hi, I am new to the message board, so I thought I would start here. I have carved a pair of ice skates to be used as a Christmas ornament. I am trying to locate a supplier that mike carry miniature blades that I could attach to the carving. Any ideas?? thanks a bunch, Chuck

Have you thought about making them out of thin sheets of metal which you can buy at a hobby supplier? I've gotten copper and brass and you can cut them with scissors or a knife. I think I got it at Michaels and/or Hobby Lobby. I used it to make crowns for nativity sets--and some people even use them to make leaves for habitat.

If it were me, I would cut them out of a pop can, doubled with the loop up to glue in a slot.

I don't know just how small you consider "miniature " to be..but I know from making my templates for patterns that if you try to use metal..such as very thin aluminum,,it'll drive you nuts trying to keep it from buckling and getting clean cuts and not have it look like you did it with an axe.
I know the blades are metal,,and everyone naturally thinks of using some sort of metal..but it probably isn't necessary with paints.
If you go to any hardware store,,you can buy For Sale,,or For Rent signs. The plastic is fairly thin,,very easy to cut and shape in small designs...it won't look as hacked and is much easier to cut than metal. And just a drop or two of epoxy and you got them in place. Could be done pretty quickly this way.
