Default Me, again

Hi;
I've been gone for a while...med. problems since about last Thanksgiving...but, despite that, I have finished a Gryffindor snowman for our house, adapted from the stackable/sectional one in WI, another snowman for my daughter's birthday, a Mary Kay Snowlady tree ornament for me wife, adapted from a photo in WI, and about a dozen and a half relief-carved Santa head ornaments for the grandmoppets and friends.

I purchased two Denny knife blades, whch I will mount in handles, again, I got the idea from WI, (I just gotta stop reading that!) and have started on a Halloween pumpkin, "Erik the Orange"...a Viking pumpkin, if you can imagine.
I also have the "6(?)"Minute Gnome" roughed out, just waiting for me to get nerve enough to start it, not to mention the Santa that is in my "future projects" box....all ready. The faces terrify me! Will it NEVER end?? I have a snowman ornament sitting on my bench, just waiting for my wife to make up her mind whether I should paint it lawyerly for her boss or Mary Kay, for her friend.

I am computer stupid, so am not able to post pixes of my creations, but maybe one day...

NOW! A question... I have the itch to carve a totem pole...not big, probably 24 in. max. length, 2 in. diameter. I've searched, but can find very little simple how to for beginner wood butchers like me. Can anyone suggest a good text, or site?

Thanks.

Fyboy,

Welcome back. Good luck with the projects you have started. Don't worry about nerve, just jump in and do it.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

This link is to Dave Brocks Blog. He shows how to do a mini totem pole.
