Hi Max,
the easiest way to move around in this site is to either use the back button on your internet browser or if you notice at the top of the posts/reply windows, a box that has the green band across the bottom:
User CP FAQ Members List Calendar....you see the one? Right above that green band in words that are underlined, it shows you where you are.
Right now, It reads Wood Carving Illustrated Message Board > Wood Carving > etc...and the last thing in line is where you are at that point. You can click on those underlined words and go back as far as you want, back to the Message Board, which shows all the topics, or just back to the section you happen to be in such as Carving for Beginners.... It is easy.

If you use the back button, you can go back but your post may not show because you are backing up and the page you back to will not be refreshed to show your post even though it is there. So either use the "refresh" button at the top of your internet browser program after you have backed out of where you posted....or click on the underlined words in that box with the green band. It is not hard.

Max... The first thing is to make sure that you have your "cookies" enabled. Then once you sign in if it's a private message that yuo're looking for just go up to the top of the page where it says "Welcome Max the Knife" and click on "Private Messages". As for posts or new threads all you need to do is click on the tab "new posts" at the top of the page or click on the tab, "Quick Links" and then click on "Today's s." I had a hard time figuring it out myself until someone reminded me to leave my cookies enabled.

One thing to note, too, is that you need to log onto the message board in order to post a message. Some boards allow you to "e-mail" in to the board to make a post, but not this board.

It can be confusing because somepeople set their posts up to "Subscribe" the to that post. Any time someone posts something to that thread, the board sends them an e-mail of what was posted. But in order to reply to that message, you need to go back to the board.

To check to see if someone responded to a post you made, the easiest way is to click on your name, and then click "View Public Profile" Scroll down until you see a box labeled "Forum Info." Inside that box, you can search for all of the posts you have made. If you click on the one you're interested in, you can see if anyone responded to you!

Please let me know if I can help in any way!

Best regards,
Bob Duncan

Max:

Take time to read all the FAQs (Frequently Asked s). To find them, go to http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/index.php and on the top thick green line, click on "FAQ". When the new page comes up, towards the bottom on the left under "vBulletin FAQ", are three links. Click on the "User Maintenance" link, and all three will show up as a set of additional links. Start with the top one and read them all. They should answer most of your questions.

Hi Bob,

You should also mention that some posts are delayed while they are being reviewed. Seems like if a post has a picture or URL it needs to be reviewed first. Are these pending posts visible somewhere? I posted a message twice cause I didn't see it.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Dundee,
If you are using your "back button" after you post, you are simply returning to the thread prior to your post. Instead of using the back button after a post, go to the top of the page and click on the name of your thread that is underlined in that rectangle box up above the thread box..... or go up to your browser tool bar and click refresh. That should show the current thread window with your post included. I post pics all the time and have never had a delay. using the back button just backs up to the thread before your post....I know it's confusing...heck, I am making myself confused right this second....just try it.
