howdy fellas, i'm an art teacher in alberta who introduces young students to relief carving and would like to increase my own level of expertise in the medium. i have the opportunity to explore various "professional development" avenues, and i intend to visit B.C a couple of times this year for one reason or another. i would love to include tutorials or clinics in woodcarving while on one of these trips, and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice for where i might visit. i was looking online but was overwhelmed by lots of vague descriptions and directions. anyone care to share? cheers obee |

Check with Mike and Jan Sykes at the Chip Bin in Sicamous or The Shushwap School of carving in Sorrento

Depending on where in BC you're going to be you can check these guys out and see what the have to offer -> Lee Valley Tools - Woodworking Tools, Gardening Tools, Hardware. I just took David Western's Lovespoon carving course there and was super impressed with their facilities! Good luck! E.

He lapped the foamy froth from off the floor and back on his haunches he sat, and all night long you could hear him roar "Bring on the Goddamn cat!" |
