Hi there, I've been wanting to give woodcarving a try (Santas, smaller carvings, etc) and I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Does anyone know of a place that offers lessons for beginners? Thanks, Omar |

Welcome to the best carving forum on the net! I can't help you find a instructor in Calgary, but here try this link. It's the next best thing to having your own personal coach. Woodcarving Illustrated - Gene Messer Videos Wayne |

Hey Omar, WCI has a few clubs listed in Alberta, (Wood Carving Illustrated - How To Magazine for Carvers). Two are in Edmonton and one in Fort Mac. If you contacted someone at one of these clubs, they may know a teacher or club in Cow Town. Welcome to the board! There's some great help here for beginning carvers!

Hi There, I teach a woodcarving class once a year. The fellow that I apprentice to Rick Wiebe is an excellent Santa carver, and we could teach you some Santa making on our next course next year. Give me a call if you have any questions. My name is James Dukeshire 403-984-3695. james.dukeshire@shaw.ca. I'm based out of Calgary. |
