Greetings all! I have carved one-whole 3 link chain so far and would like to try my hand at more types of chains. In 'the-other' carving publication I saw the term 'laddered chain' used along with numbers like 2,3,4 .. Could some wood chain wizard please explain what is meant by a 'ladded chain' and the related numbers? Also, if anyone has some nice pictures to post it would be so greatly appreciated, by this forum newbie. Thanks in advance for anything you care to share. Ron

If I remember correctly, a laddered chain is also known as a roller chain and it would look like this. How to carve it ?????????

I have never done a chain myself but I have seen pictures here on the site of some excellent carved chains. If you put carved chains in the search category on the top of the page it should take you to some past post and pictures.

Did a little looking for ladder chains and besides the roller type I found this....could be adapted to carving, I suppose. ![]() Al |

That chain that Alarchie posted is a laddered chain. The only other thing that I thought of was an actual chain ladder. Runners and rungs are all chain. Used for rescue and fire escape ladders sometimes. Spooker |
