Default Kiln-dried vs. Faux Green

I have a few older spoon blanks (cherry, walnut, maple) that were kiln dried. Will it work to soak them in water for a bit (overnight?) to make them easier to carve or once they are dried that's pretty much it?

Thank you,
Charlie

Try putting a 50:50 mix of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) and water in a spray bottle. Give a quick spray on the area you are about to carve. Let it soak in for a minute or so and you will be surprised how it will ease the carving.

As cheap as the alcohol is, I use it straight! Hiccup!
