Default Just needed to share

I just wanted to share what has happened to me over the last couple weeks. I know many of you have sold your carvings and some are even able to make a living doing this wonderful way to pass the time. But for me it has just been a way to make it through the Minnesota winters. I tried it for the first time a year ago then took nine months off and started back again when the snow got to deep to be out and enjoying the great out doors.
Anyways, I have been working this last few weeks on my faces trying to get the eye's and mouths right. Just for kicks I posted a picture of a few of them on facebook just to let my friends outside the state know how I have been keeping my sanity. One of my smart friends that I have not seen in a couple years asked if I did commision work. Of course I laughed and as a joke ( being a bit of a smart *** myself) I desided to see if I could carve his face. Well I finished it last night and sent him a photo of it. Now he wants to buy it and I think he is serious. Of course I will be just giving it to him once I put it on a bust to make it look more complete. But I am still shocked that anyone even an old friend would want to pay money for something I have made. Here is his photo and a photo of the caarving. It amazes me.

Well, it seems you are off to a good start. Keep at it. Also, if your friend insists, take the money. Maybe he/she recognizes something you don't yet.
