At this point in your carving - don't worry about messing something up. It's a piece of wood that you can always make something else out of it (although smaller). If you look at 'faceless angels' you'll notice a lot of that type do not have much detail with the hair. try it on the next one, but I must say - I do like the halo look. Plus, if you do anything like I did a little while ago making an angel, I sort of cut the head off (commonly referred to as a 'technical error'). So, I altered it a bit & made a Headless horseman out of it for halloween.
