Default Iowan is looking for beginner instruction.

Hi, Â*I'm a 41 year old professional who has been bitten by the woodworking Â*bug. Â*I have found a antique reproduction desk that I'd like to make (Chippendale Partner Desk) but it has a good deal of hand carving involved, and (in the words of Sgt. Schultz) 'I know nothing'.

Does anyone know of someone in Eastern Iowa that provides woodcarving instruction on a class or individual basis?

Thanks much,

RID

Contact the National Wood Carvers Association for a wood carving club near you. Nearly all clubs offer lessons of all types by fellowclub members or pros invited in for seminars for a fee.

You can contact NWCA at:
E-mail: nwca@chipchats.org
Web site: www.chipchats.org

Good luck

Get in touch with Larry Yudas (563-359-9684 or 800-397-2278) at 'The Woodcraft Shop' in Bettendorf. He has classes or could tell you where to contact someone. There is a seminar coming up June 16-20 somewhere out there.

If you are near Mt. Pleasant or Keokuk, they both have a carving club. Keokuk has a really active one.
Hope this helps. Emmitt
