If you are interested in power carving with your Dremel I will send you a copy of Power Carving Tutorial for Beginners. Just let me know and your e-mail address. Be advised that it is a pretty long download if you are on dial-up.

Hello! I'm a dremel user! What are you leaning twards for projects to do? I've done walking sticks, my last in the round santa, and last night a few wood spirits in branches with my dremel. And today I will be working on a green man pattern from the WCI magazine.

I did find out that I can buy better burrs/bits that are NOT dremel brand. I just bought one that is going to be my favorite just because it removes alot of wood faster. Its a carbide burr/bit. I will share pix of my favorite burrs/bits with name brands if you wish to add on to your dremel arsenal.. *grin*

Here is my first project I did with my dremel tool a year ago. Sold it before I even sealed it. The new owner had to wait until I got it sealed first. These pictures are before a sealer was put on. It was lil black bears climbing a dowel (walking stick) with a beehive at the top.

Petal-- I can't get your E-mail address to work. Try to send me another message with correct address, and I'll send the tutorial to you.

Now I think I got it sent. Let me know.

I noticed several folks use Dremel Tools - which one do you use and how large is the work you use it on?

I use Dremels as well as several other rotary tools. If you are going to buy a Dremel I would recommend a variable speed with a flexible shaft as a minimum. Depending on your budget you might look at some of the larger flex shafts like Foredom or Mastercarver. As for sizes of carvings, I have carved things from 2 inches to almost 6 feet with power tools. Dremel also makes a large tool, the 732, which I think has been replaced by an even more powerful one. You can do a Google search for Dremel Tools for more info on their newer line of tools.
Home Depot and Lowes both carry the variable speed regular tool with flexshaft. Hope this helps.
