Default House carvings

Hi There,

Im new to the forum and to wood carving, doing it now for 2 months or so...
Now i found a week ago, all kind of houses made in different trees. It looked like it was unrefined wood with a carved house/city in it... but i cant find it anymore!

Also im searching for some patterns for it... anyone? What kind of wood is this made from?

Regards,

Gaara

Welcome to the forum. You will find a ton of great information on here and a wide range of expertise to help when you have questions.

It sounds like you may be talking about Rick Jensen's carving of tree bark. I have seen several really interesting houses carved in tree bark that he and other carver's have done. Some have carved a series of houses along a winding road up the bark.

Hope that points you in the right direction. Mr. Jensen has some books out about carving tree bark.

Welcome to the forum. You'll probably find the bark houses and stuff under the "Founf Wood" section on this site.

Welcome to the group. A basic google search "cottonwood bark house" will provide many ideas.
Also try using the search feature in this forum - it has always helped me.

Hiya all,
Thanks for the info and the welcome messages.
I asked what it could be cause i really didnt had a clue what it was called.... cottonwood bark house it is i was searching for. Also the other terms are pretty interesting For these kind of projects does it matter what kind of wood you use?

Is there a carver specialized in it and has it any books or so?

cheers

Give Rick Jensen's book a try - Illustrated Guide to Carving Tree Bark.
There's also a few Youtube videos on the subject.

Happy Carving!
