Hope, very nice first carving. Keep it up and keep us posted. Try different woods. Basswood seems to be thw wood of choice in this country and you may not have any available there. Talk to someone there who deals in wood and see if there is anything similar that you have access to.

Hope, you did a terrific job on the carving, because it is your first and also because mango is hard wood. I use fruit woods frequently and know how difficult they can be to carve. They hold detail well.
