Sure, most fruit woods are carvable. Going to depend on what & how you plan to use it. Is it already dry or is it still green? This will make a difference. However, I never have used that type of wood. My favorite is Butternut.

Apparently nobody on this website has experience with mango wood. You should consider it an opportunity to become our "resident expert" on mango. Carve something and let us know! Then carve something using basswood or butternut and tell us your comparison.

I have carved it before it is OK just OK it will mildew if you coat it too soon after it’s carved and it is like crack cocaine to bugs, it also kind of smells like a rotten mango when carved green. It carves much like mahogany not as hard as most fruit woods takes stain well. I love it wish I had a huge log of it in my log inventory. Its wood and that is all it is just carve it Woodcarver. I am available to answer questions if you have any if I can.

No harm in trying. In carving there are no mistakes, only design changes.

Certainly it won't hurt to try it but if you can get ahold of some basswood or butternut that would be the way to go...they are both soft and easy to carve. However, if you are into carving hardwoods, cherry, maple, oak and black walnut are excellent.
