Hi! I have just destroyed the motor on my regular vacuum cleaner by vacuuming up sawdust repeatedly over a number of days...Does anyone know of a suitable vacuum cleaner available in the UK which I could use at home for general household hoovering aswell as to regularly hoover up fine sawdust? Thanks very much for any advice! Alisoun |

Can you buy a dyson? They claim to work without a bag.

I use a small dyson and it works great. But most of the mess is contained on my bench.

I don't think that any household rug vac would handle the rigors of shop duty I'd try a heavy duty wet/dry shop vac, Craftsman makes a good one but there are tons out there in every price range |

If all you can get locally is a home floor, canister vac with a hose, you may consider putting a separator head and canister in line before your vacuum. I don't know if Woodcraft sells in the UK but if they do and or you can mail order they have a small and large separator head that goes on a standard paint bucket (standard 5 gal in the US) or trash can. They also sell a small Oneida cyclone, that does a better job than a separator head. You can also make your own separator head if you feel extra thrifty with a few PVC plumbing fittings and a garbage can with a lid (or a 5gal bucket and lid). I have and use a small ClearVue cyclone on an overlarge Rigid vac and it removes a huge amount of material before the Hepa filter unit. Good Luck. |

Go for a Dyson if its dust. Ours does the job, but, roughing out chips clog it up. I sweep and then vac. A right little char I am.
