Default Have you started painting..

Have you started painting a carved piece to find yourself in trouble and keep on trying to fix the spot to have it look worse and worse.

Well, I did and now starting back carving/sanding the problem out. I believe if I had stop and either sanded or carved the problem out, instead of layering more paint, I could have been done with it. It was a Santa face and it got worse and worse with each layer of paint. Thought I had it sealed but apparently not or it was a bad spot. Nah, Couldn't be that. Me thinks I messed up starting out.

Oh well, never to old to learn. Maybe to tired but never to old! :

Hey Kenny,
Your problem sounds familiar. Did you try any of the solutions that were offered for my staining problem?

One last possibility before pitching it in the old fireplace--Is there any way you can cut the head off and carve another one and glue it on?

Did you make it to the Springfield fair this summer? Sure was some great carvings there.

Donna T,
I am in the process of carving away the problem area on the Santa. I may be abale to carve out the head part and insert another one. May be a problem fo me as it is a hooded Santa. First one attempted and the little bride and Darling GD loves it and wants more. Those two are never happy with just one. Think about putting it back for a while as The more I dosomething with it, the worse it get.

Believe it or not, we went through Springfield on Thursday and the windshiled wiper motor on our new car quit. So I went to WallyWorld(WalMart) and got some RainX and kept on going to the in-laws. Came back through on Tur=esday but thought of you all at the Fair.

I attended a very small carving show(14) carvers, turners and Pyros) at Independence Ks, last Sat and was blown away at the quality of carvings. Glad I didn't participate this time. Met some carvers that were within 50 miles and one 6 miles away from Caney. Never laid eyes on this gentleman before and of course there were a couple from the Monday night gettogether. Several were interested in the get together and one showed up this past Manday evening. No one is interested in getting up a club yet but likes the idea of meeting every Monday evening. I am a hit and miss at it as other things come up.

Hope you are better on back to normal. My wrist still isn't what it was before the break but I believe it has some thing to do with getting older.

My little bride came to my rescue and handed me a jar of DecoArt Snow Tex and said,' see what you can do with that big boy'. Well, I wasn't sure what se was implying but the Santa is now fixed with a white looking stuff around the face, om the hood lookinh like white Fir.It gave it Dimensional effect also. Good Stuff. Leave it to a Crafty/Scrapebooker to come up with a fix. I wouldn't know what I would do without her. Maybe have peace of mind :.

Thank ya Darln' for your help!
