Thanks for showing the finished product . I think it looks great and so does my wife. I just cut open a pink golf ball now I have to give it a try. Thanks so much for sharing

Thank you very much! It's carved from Redheart. I've never heard of it before, but it was on sale at WoodCraft. I've looked at the cell structure and it resembles a softwood, but it's very dense like a hardwood. Thanks again for the inspiration Gear Dog!! |

Great stuff! Keep them coming. The only thing I have done with Golf balls was target practice. Hmm, Just think of all I have blown to ,,,,,,,,,,,,, That I could have carved them.

I have attached a picture of my long-stemmed version of the golfball rose...I used one half of the cover to make the leaves...and the other half to make the "cup" that holds the flower. If you drop the cover pieces in boiling water, you can give them a more natural shape. Superglue gel works great to glue it all together. If you have to make a bunch of the same color...use "noodle ice" golf balls. The covers are clear and you can see the beautiful pastels on the inside. The texture is great, too...not as rubbery as some of the others...more like a hard foam...and it holds an edge like a dream.
