I haven't carved in a few weeks and wanted to try something different. I had a golf ball with a pink center that I thought would look great as a rose. Here is what I have so far. I want to dig into the center a little more and define a few more petals. Let me know what you think. |

Hey there Gear Dog Its looking good so far , if it was mine I think I would undercut the petals a little more and round over the bottom some then mount it on a tee with a couple of leaves, just my thoughts

Not to hurt your feelings but at the moment it looks like a great big wad of double bubble bubble gum, sorry, I call 'em as I see 'em Cliff |

Thanks for the input Slather I do plan on working on the outer petals more. I just want to work on the center of the rose for a change of pace. I also plan on mounting it on a green tee and I'm cutting petals from the shell.

Gear Dog, looks good to me. I like the idea of mounting it on a tee. Dave |

It's coming along good Gear Dog, I agree, a little more definition on some of the petals and round up the base a bit and you should have a nice rose bud! Corey

One thing you can do is carve it in the shell. Remove 1/2 but save it. You can take a tee, glue it to the bottom of the 1/2 with the carving. Drill a small hole in the top half and glue the other end of the tee in that. This way you're using the top half as the base. I've done several golf ball carvings including roses and tiger lillys. |

I think it looks pretty good myself. Anxious to see it finished

Here it is after a little more work on the outer petals. The flash makes it hard to see how much I under cut it. My detail knife can't clean out the little crevices, so I'm going to try an xacto knife. |
