Alice, I'd try the two part epoxy for that purpose. I've glued several pieces to stone, but have also used a carbide drill bit to drill into the rock, and a corresponding hole into the carving. A little epoxy on both ends of a metal (Iuse brass) rod ans some on the surfaces between the base and carving, and they are PERMANENTLY stuck! Al |

| WOOD CARVING ILLUSTRATED , Holiday 2004 Issue mentions site WWW.thistothat.com. You key in that you want to glue 'this' to 'that' and it tells you what glue to use!

I have been in the glue business for over 36 years. Gluing wood to rock is probably best done by a good epoxy. If you can find a somewhat thinner version the better. Also a flexible/impact resistant Super Glue will work well. |

use a two part system called PC7. If that doesn't work nothing will. This stuff will outlast a nuclear blast. It's thick, almost putty like when mixed,,but will hold pretty much anything to anything forever. Not intended for delicate jobs.

I have used the $4.00 epoxy that HD sells, works great. Wear throw away gloves. Dave |

I have never heard of PC7? Hardware store? or specialty stores? I also have a big crack in my Cedar bowl which has been totally finished and the crack which I had glued with this famous glue the wood turners use ( lost the name and the bottle) is opening up again ,now what????? The wood is left natural and has a semigloss finish. Any help for this ? Alice |

Hi Alice, all the glue in the world won't stop wood from shrinking. The wood needs to be sealed with oil, vegetable oil or someting to stop the loss or exchange of moisture.
