I also use Titebond, and it dries clear.

Even Elmers carpenter glue works fine and dries clear. Dave |

I sometimes mix Elmers wood glue and CA ("super") glue. One on each side to be joined. Previous discussion along similar lines: Wood glue marks Last edited by Mitchell; 06-26-2009 at 10:13 AM. |

Elmers carpenters glue or Titebond.....don't use too much or you are going to see glue...doesn't take much...and if allowed to dry, the wood will break before the glue joint.

Elmer's or Titebond can't be beat. I did a relief carving on two pieces of cherry joined with Elmer's carpenters glue in 1987 and it's still solid as a rock. I've used both Elmer's and Titebond and both seem to be pretty much the same. The one caveat is that any glue on the surface will prevent the finish from penetrating the wood, so that area will look different after finishing. Bill (Aiken, SC) |

I have often laminated wood for carving I use titebond because it is more water resistance than Elmers yellow glue but both work well and do not yellow.

Either cover the gluing surface and apply the first layer of the finish; or cover the surrounding area on which the glue will be squeezed. |
