Kevlar gloves are available that have rubber "nubs" on them. They don't slip! Is your left hand your carving hand or your right? Many right-handed carvers use a glove on their left hand and a thumb and finger guard (leather) on their right.

Once most gloves are broke in the slip factor is greatly reduced! I'm not a fan of the yellow kevlar gloves with the blue nubbies. Contrary to what's advertised a good sharp carving knife will slice through them if you catch them just right. Look for a glove that has stainless steel thread in it.
