Default Glove ? Help

Ok! I purchased a Kevlar Glove (Yellow Blue Bumps) I was in formed by many sources that the glove would protect you on a slicing cut but not a stabbing cut. I have carved two Santa’s minute (one is in my photo’s with a bad paint day) both times I have cut my figure (sane one) Now either I was missed informed, Wrong glove, Or I’m just jinx with this carving of this Santa-----I believe it’s the latter

No gloves will stop a knife cut it just slows it down enough so you don't have to spend the time in the ER . You need to look for gloves with stainless steel in them like a fillet glove and learn to keep your hand out of the way of your knife or chisel . Enjoy and keep carving after a while it will become second nature.

A little carver's tape wrapped around the outside of the glove on the thumb and whichever finger keeps getting in the way, will help also.

Make sure the glove you choose is kevlar with the steel reinforce weave. I've tried the yellow ones with the black dots and did not like them. They are not as cut resistant and the black dots tend to 'dirty' the carving. I also find using a little tape around the thumb or finger helps.

Happy carving,
Jesse
