Howdy folks, I've been carving full time since February now and I'm getting pretty confident in my style/skill (I do smoothie artsy animals mostly). I wanted to try relief carving and saw this book on sale as part of the post-Father's day sale. Think it's a good place to start? And will I need many different tools than I have now (roughing, detail, mini detail knives, a micro gouge set and one or two random chisels)? Thanks! -Howie |

Hello Howie, i don't know this Book, the Cover looks very interesting. Chris Pye has a good book too: Relief Carving: A Practical Introduction I carve a lot of relief und i need some No. 2 and No. 3 irons for the background and some short bent. Knifes, V-Tools are good choice. But i think, try with your toolset and look what irons you miss. This way is better, then buying a lot of expensive tools what you not need. |
