Default Flexcut formed strop

did a little playing with my limited tools today, and remember someone talking about a Strop made by Flexcut that has the profiles cut into it, find it locally for about 10.00, anyone use it? and is it worth the 10.00?....all for it, if it will make the stropping easier and consistent....any input is appreicated...Dennis

I bought one several years ago and yes it works. Is it worth it, good question. I found that it doesn't fit the profile of a lot of my tools and the large area for doing knives was not long enough for my liking. I made my own out of a piece of basswood using my own tools. Cut both inner and outer profiles into the wood. Did all of my tools in about 10 minutes. For knives I took an old leather belt and, with contanct cement, glued it to a piece of wood. I'm much happier with this set up than I was with the Flexcut. But it does work and whether it's worth the 10 bucks, that's up to you. A lot of people do use it and like it.

I'm with Ed the best $10 I have spent well worth the money. I also think the knife portion is a little short but in a pinch it works great. Certainly it doesnt fit all profiles but if it did it would be so long you wouldnt be able to use it. Good investment fits great in the tool box.

I've had one for a couple years and really like it, especially for my Dockyard Micro tools. I don't do my knives on it, I use a longer strop for them. For me it was well worth the money.

If you have any doubts about your tool sizes working with it and also want to save the money, check out page 24 of this issue of Wood Carving Illustrated Magazine. Susan Irish describes how to make your own, like Ed described. That's what I'm going to do next, so I have the 'perfect' one for each of my tools! Deborah

I concur with the responses above - YES, it's worth it.

Another option would be to make your own. Take a basswood plank and use your tools to cut the profiles in the board.....add compound and WaLaaaa!

Another yes. It's a great size for travel, and it really works well.

Yes, I like it. Worth ther money wheather it be $10 of $12. I agree on the knives, need a little longer however,It does work with knives, maybe have to strop more with the flexcut on knives.
I give it a for the money. Spent
more for less.
