Default First People carving 20 years ago!

I thought I wood show my first carving of a person I did 20 years ago.
I'm doing this to show people who are starting out that they shouldn't give up carving just because there first attempts don't measure up to someone that has been doing it a while. I have learned a lot since that first carving and I still have a lot to learn! This pattern was in one of Rick Butzs books.

Hi Mark, if you look at the face it is rather crude. Back then it took a lot of time to do a carving like that. I had to do a lot of thinken on every cut, now it comes naturaly and is a lot of fun.
Awhile back there was a post on your first carving, I tried to find it but no luck. Does anybody know where I can find it. Thanks, Carl

As some one who is fairly new to carving, I want to say thanks for sharing. I know most people's carvings started off a little rough, but it's nice to see.
At least now, we have the advantage of the great group of people on this forum, as well as people like Gene, Lynn and Arleen with their vidoes to help us along.

As Gene reminded me in his post, keep your first carvings or take pictures. That way when you look back at them you will be able to see how you are getting better.

I'm thinken maybe I will carve that piece again and see if I can make it a lot better.
I thought of doing that earlier, but gave up on the idea. Then Hal posted and got me to thinken that maybe I should carve him again.
Thanks for all the comments, from uall.
