Based on the 5-minute wizard videos. I got a little annoyed of watching it on my iPod so once I got the gist of it I went off on my own. Any tips?

Hey Howie, Nice lookin' wizard. I know exactly what you're talking about with that iPod. I've watched mine until I'm just about cross-eyed. What kind of finish are you going to apply? Thanks for sharing your work. Keep on keeping on. Jim |

That's a good start. You cuts look clean, that is a major plus. Just carve him a few more times, concentrating on making him round in the face, clean cuts, and maybe a little more detail in the beard. keep up the practice and improvement will occur.

Howie, I agree with everyone else, you are getting there. As Slow said try a little more rounding. on the facial features. I will be looking for the next project that you complete. I have a question for you. Did you get the 5 minute wizard done in 5 minutes. The first one I did I think took me about 2 1/2 hours. All I could think the whole time was "5 minutes, you got to be kidding me" Keep up the good work. Safe Carving and god Bless, Mark |

Thanks everyone - I've tried more of a cariacture head based on what I learned doing this (First try) and did try doing a bit more rounding. I have trouble getting rounded cheeks, etc. I find I take too much off and flatten my cuts. Tips on how to round them? I also read something in reference to an 'arched' cut. Any tips on how to achieve this? |
