Well, I decided to start with the "Tom H. Santa Study Stick Tutorial" in the tute forum. I started this morning and this is where I got to:
This is a branch I put a corner on with my draw knife and plane There's a couple of bits left to do but I'm going to rest before I carry on. It was all done with my new pocket pal SAK.
There is nothing wrong with having a healthy respect for knives. I earned my living with them for a few years and still have a healthy respect for them.
Whatever there a a lot of "Green Men" but maybe this one is unique?
Thanks She actually carved this with a pencil! It's good to see her doing something like this though as she has always said she "has no talent". Naturally, I don't agree. It's good to have something she made to prove her wrong on this instance even if she is (of course!!) always right in every other respect
Nice, branch carving--your coming right along with your carving.
Also, your partner did a super job on the soap...I think once she gets past the knife thingie she'd like relief carving on wood (recommend basswood) a lot.
A good part of relief carving is using gouges and for me aren't as intemidating as knives. With saying that, I've cut myself more with gouges than knives. LOL
Kathy
She has strabismus and coloboma which gives her single eye vision, her depth perception is shot and she can sometimes be 2" off when trying to put things down, which results in a lot of broken cups!
