Default First carving

Dont know how well this will turn out but this is my first. Just started carving this last weekend. Here's my santa completed. My mom has been bugging me to carve ever since I carved a little miniature horse 10 years ago for a chess set.

Ok so now im doing it. I have to admit it is alot of fun and challenging.

You did just fine. Welcome back to the world of carving. I find the nice thing about carving is about half way through, I start planning what I'm going to do different or next. One leads to another , to another, and each better than the first. The other nice thing about carving is all the great folks you get to meet along the way.

Nice job on you first carving! Cypress is a good 1st wood to learn on. Some advice though, be sure your tools are very sharp and be sure you are wearing a safety glove....
