Default First Carved Sign

Hi All!

Well I am finally finished getting my house ready for sale and back from holidays so I have some time to play. I am finished my first carved sign and it is at the following location under carvings - http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumList?u=4195517

It is made from African Mohagany and is completely hand carved. I did it as a birthday present for my brother and is the logo for his company which I also helped design.

Thanks for looking at it

Lindy

Well done Lindy, thats a nice looking sign. I bet it was fun to discover that you could do it too!

You never know what you can accomplish until you try. Keep up the good work.

Regards,

Bob

Thanks everyone!

I really did enjoy carving it. I alomost quit at one point as I was working with a piece of Honduras Mohagany that had some beautiful graining to it, all swirls!! I ended up breaking 2 tools on it and chipping 3 others before I gave it up. I decided to give it another try but also to be a little more watchful on the grain of the wood I bought.

The dimensions on that peice are about 12' x 27'.

Thanks again for all your kind words.

Lindy

Your journey into working that Mahogany will turn into an education! Mahogany is a beautiful wood to carve, and especially relief carve. 'If' you can master the grain! But once you learn to master the grain and let it 'tell' you its secrets, you will end up with some beautiful carvings.

Great job Lindy, your brother must be very happy with it, as well he should be! Having you design and carve it will make it extra special to him! Thanks for sharing the picture with us! Callynne
