Default Where to find 2000 grit emory cloth

Hi I am new to the forum. I have been carving off and on for 30 years. I have never used Emory cloth to polish my cutting tools but I would like to try it.

I have been reading threads for two days but I am stuck.

Where can you buy 800, 1200 and 2000 grit wet/dry cloth? I have tried every store I can find doing google searches.

Thanks for your help.

Try your local auto supply store in their refinishing supplies, or some of the better hardware stores.

The word Emory is probably throwing you off as most modern abrasives are Silicone Carbide

Hello Whatsthat,

Try the following for abrasive film...it's got adhesive back, goes up to 6,000 or so grit, and works great when applied to a firm surface, like plexaglass. I've made a set of honing/stropping devices using 4 different grits. I applied the film to a piece of plexaglass, then sawed it into strips so that they are about 2" by 6". It makes a lot, so I've shared them with others and still kept several for my carving box.

Lee Valley Tools have lots of regular wet-or-dry and emery cloth supplies.

Try it.
